SOME TATTOOING TECHNIQUES Black and Grey Shading ![]() This technique uses only black ink. Different shades are obtained by skillfully diluting pure black ink or using different shading methods with the tattoo machine. Color Filling ![]() ![]() This technique is basically doing a black outline and then filling the design will colors. It is mostly used for symbols or simple small designs. Color Shading ![]() Color shading is pretty much the same as black and grey shading except that different shades of colors are used. This is a very popular technique used for color tattoos. Black and Grey combined with color Shading ![]() ![]() This is a combination of black and grey shading and color shading. The overall effect is very interesting and is also quite popular. Bloodline Tattooing ![]() With this technique. no outline is used. Sometimes a very pale grey can be used as outline. Bloodline tattooing in itself is not a tattooing technique. You can use black and grey shading or color shading for the tattoo combined with bloodline tattooing to obtain a more realistic effect as you can see in the picture of the wolf. Solid black filling ![]() Mostly used with designs such as tribal, polynesian, lettering etc. It's basically a black outline filled with black ink. The black ink used for this technique is a special, heavier ink to give the tattoo a nice effect. Combinations ![]() ![]() ![]() Different techniques can be combined to create nice effects.
